The Ling Awards

A multi-media gala celebration of friendship, art & culture. A sketch comedy film festival, awards show & extraordinarily fun night.

The Ling Awards is a multi-media gala celebration of friendship, community, art, culture, music, comedy & film annually held each spring in Saskatoon.

Men's Achievement - Awarded to a man who inspires and motivates others, exhibits quality characteristics, personal or professional progress, camaraderie, and displays outstanding achievements. A Men's Achievement Award winner is a credit to his gender.

Women's Achievement - Awarded to a woman who inspires and motivates others, exhibits quality characteristics and personal or professional progress, camaraderie, and displays outstanding achievements. A Women's Achievement Award winner is a credit to her gender.

Artistic Achievement - Awarded to an individual or group for outstanding creation of art, song, video, photo or other artistic endeavour.

Community Leadership - Awarded to a person or group who provides leadership, guidance and good deeds in their community.

Outstanding Socialite - Awarded to those individuals who display excellence in entertaining, hosting, kinship, community and fraternity. This award can also be given to an individual who displays a mastery of social media. 

Reconnaissance Award - Awarded to individuals or a group who indulge in worldly education through travel, exploring the world like no other. Reconnaissance Award winners are well-traveled, and are they type of person that anyone would be lucky to travel with. They also likely have a plethora of people living vicariously through them.

Team of The Year - Presented to the winners of the International Tipsy Cups Federation tournament held in the weeks leading up to the Ling Awards. Teams of six (three gentlemen, three ladies) compete in a double-elimination, best of five, no-holds-bar tournament. Competition is fierce, and the champion team must display courage, determination, endurance, luck, intestinal fortitude, and dexterity. Each year, the Dynasty Cup trophy is permanently engraved with the champions' team name.

Ling MVP - Presented to an individual who is instrumental in the production of the Ling Awards. Outstanding contributions in art, film projects, production, or solidarity are considered. 

Lifetime Achievement - Bestowed upon a deserving individual for a lifetime of contributions to a field of their choosing. Previous categories include: academia, philanthropy, mentorship, and showmanship.

Most Eligible - Awarded to an individual that is not currently in a committed relationship, and may be actively looking for a partner. The Ling Academy selects a recipient whom they believe to be worthy of choice.

Best Picture - Awarded to the actors and filmmakers who go above and beyond to make a masterpiece of film that has captivated the world, and leaves audiences in awe. 

Best Costume - Awarded for excellence and innovation in costume design.

Best Dressed - As a formal event, the Ling Academy of the Arts, Inc. encourages everyone to be the best individual they can be by donning their finest attire, or going out of their way to reach new heights of style. Individuals or small groups must volunteer to be nominated for an opportunity to win Best Dressed. Voted by the academy during the awards gala.

Best Presenter - Nominees for this category redefine excellence in public speaking. The presenters that excel are selected by the Academy during the awards gala, and the award is presented near the end of the show.

Best Acceptance Speech - The most prestigious award handed out at the Ling Awards is the award for Best Acceptance Speech. It is endowed upon the individual who has, through other displays of excellence, already won a Ling Award and has accepted their award with such grace, humility and inspiring speech to have separated themselves from even their fellow Ling Award recipients.
